Indonesian teacher welfare

By Dwi Nur Asiyah

In the past, when we were little, maybe the teacher became one of the professions we wanted to live. But as we grow older, many of us begin to have other goals, such as becoming doctors, architects, entrepreneurs and so on. There are those who have found a passion that suits them, but there are also those who see the reality of the teacher whose life is far from prosperous so they throw away the desire to become a teacher.

We have read and heard a lot of sad stories of honorary teachers in Indonesia. Starting from a small salary, the struggle to teach in remote places, working part time to get extra money and so forth. It is really sad to know the reality of what happened. One of the stories that is quite touching is the story of an honorary teacher named Panji Setiaji. The video that shows him being awarded a shoe and motorcycle from a volunteer community, viral on social media. Panji is always seen wearing torn shoes when teaching at the school where he works. He revealed that the shoes had holes because they were often used to start the motorbike that often broke down. His salary of only 300 thousand rupiah per month is not enough to buy a new pair of shoes. He has worked as an honorary teacher for 6 years. Initially he was only paid with his sincere salary, but in the last 6 months he received a salary of 300 to 400 thousand rupiah per month. The salary is only enough to buy gasoline, repair his motorcycle which is often damaged and to buy food. Although being a teacher does not provide enough income to meet their daily needs, Panji never complains and remains eager to teach his students. His dream is just wants to create good young generations.

From the story above a little bit proves the lack of welfare of teachers in Indonesia. They are unsung heroes who are also a source of knowledge that will create a great young generation. They should have a decent life.

Children and Literacy

By  Dwi Nur Asiyah Age 1-5 years is the golden age of children. When children are at this age, parents should maximize their child's development by giving positive inputs and applying learning methods that are right for them. This is very important, because when parents wrongly provide treatment when they are in the golden age, it will be difficult to change when the child is growing up. One of the things that can be instilled in children during this golden age is the habit of reading. In this digital age, many children, even from a very early age, have become addicted to gadgets. Usually parents introduce gadgets to children on the grounds the child will be calm and not fussy when they play games / watch videos on the gadget. But unfortunately, this can have a negative impact on children both physically and mentally. It would be very unfortunate also when in the golden age but children spend too much time playing with gadgets. Therefore, it would be better if parents introduce
